Ipad: Price, Specs and Reviews

And so the new Apple Ipad has been launched officially by Steve Jobs and we have seen and heard all the Ipad jokes out there. Seriously though, what does this new gadget bring to the table? How does it differ from the previous "i" gadgets?

For one, it is a little bit larger than the iPhone/iTouch. It is around 3-4x bigger in size and really looks cool come from the outside. But can its looks compare to what it can actually do? Let us check out key components of this new baby.

The price starts at $499 for the entry level 16GB basic model without 3G, while it’s $629 for the 3G ready unit. The most expensive model costs $829 with 64GB storage. Check the table below for a detailed pricing list:

While here are the specs:
  • It really looks like a huge iPod with 0.5 inch thick body and a 9.7-inch capacitative touchscreen IPS LCD display
  • Weighs 1.5 pounds
  • Runs on a custom made 1GHz Apple A4 chip processor
  • 10-hour battery life
  • It comes in two different models: 1 is WiFi enabled while the other is WiFi + 3G
  • Storage capacity from 16 GB to 64 GB of Flash storage
  • Bluetooth 2.1 and 802.11n
  • Speaker, microphone and 30-pin connector
  • Accelerometer and Compass

Like anything in life, there are those who love and those who hate what Apple brings to the table. Some say this is just an over-sized iTouch. While some are awestruck at the fast pace technology is evolving. Whatever the case, it is best you draw conclusions yourself by checking them out firsthand in the nearest Apple store near you.

the price point is actualy very good for launch

The IPad launch will be a huge $$ maker for Apple. and this launches a whole new avenue for Apple on the revenue generation side. But with that said ..

The first generation seems just to be another gadget to carry around. It can not replace a Laptop or even a NetBook for that matter. For even normal day uses ie. no multi-tasking, Flash support, ... ect.

Nor will it even replace the iPhone or iPod Touch ... try carrying this around in your pocket much less taking it to the gym.

It definitely looks cool but just will not be on my top list of have to haves.
